Povikem 5 % Ointment 10 GM is primarily used to manage infections in minor wounds, cuts, abrasions, and burns. It belongs to the class of topical antiseptic and disinfectant medications widely recognised for their role in combating a wide range of microorganisms.

This ointment can also be applied for disinfection of skin before and after surgical procedures. It effectively manages skin infections such as impetigo (bacterial infection of the skin), folliculitis (inflamed hair follicles), furunculosis (boil) and can be used adjunctively to treat fungal skin infections like athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm.
